“Our purpose is to recognize the job that the Huntsville Police Department does,” Purinton said, “and to basically thank them as well for the job that they do to support our events.”

Michael L. Fees, Fees & Burgess, P.C., law firmFoundation Chairman Mike Fees said the organization has already raised around $95,000 of the $450,000 they will need for the project, which will be built in front of the Wheeler Avenue facility.

Fees added the organization “will serve as a safety net for the families of officers who have sacrificed their lives for the community.”

Purinton also encouraged citizens to remember the importance of law enforcement in the community. “When (the police) have a loss it’s a loss to the city and its residents.”
